EVAN BRUGGEMAN

R.G., L.G.

Principal Field Geologist

Evan came to EVREN Northwest from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality in 2015. His primary responsibility is coordinating and managing Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (P2ESAs), communicating extensively with regulatory agencies, clients, and contractors to ensure projects are successful. He has experience with investigations of various media, including surface/subsurface soil, surface/ground water, soil vapor, indoor air, radon, and hazardous materials, such as lead paint, asbestos and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs). He is also involved with the installation, oversight, and maintenance of various long-term monitoring and mitigation systems including those for ground water monitoring, product recovery, sub-slab depressurization (SSD), soil vapor extraction (SVE), and radon mitigation.

Utilizing data from P2ESAs and other environmental investigations, Evan is experienced in both the preparation and implementation of Contaminated Media Management Plans (CMMPs), including overseeing the management of impacted materials during redevelopment of sites for industrial, commercial, and residential use. Additionally, Evan has prepared and implemented Operations and Maintenance (O&M) plans for various mitigation, monitoring, and treatment systems as well as provided training for ongoing routine O&M of these systems to site users at a variety of facilities.

Evan has extensive experience with the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) 1200z Industrial Stormwater Permit and Oregon Department of Environmental Quality Underground Injection Control (UIC) permits. He has worked with clients in a wide array of industries to ensure adherence to applicable permit regulations including evaluating facilities for potential No-Exposure Certifications (NECs), preparation of Storm Water Pollution Control Plans (SWPCPs), identifying and implementing Best Management Practices (BMPs), compliance with monitoring and sampling requirements, and reporting to regulatory agencies. Evan has worked closely with engineers, regulators, and contractors to design, permit, and install various storm water treatment and/or infiltration facilities to meet and exceed applicable storm water requirements.

Outside of work, Evan likes to spend time riding his bike or taking his old camper van on trips around the Pacific Northwest (ideally, some combination of the two).
